170 Gave Blood, NOT Excuses! - (13/7/2009)
170 donors gave up their time on Sunday to give blood at Joely Bear’s blood donor session in Borehamwood. Whilst this was the 44th such session, held in conjunction with the National Blood Service, this was the first to be held at the new Yavneh College. The day was superbly catered by Josepha White who donated her time and food to support Joely Bear’s cause. As has been their custom for the last 15 years, all bread was donated by Grodzinki’s Bakery.

Joely Bears 43rd Blood Donor Session - (14/3/2009) - last updated 28/3/2009
Sunday 29th March 2009 sees us hold our 43rd blood donor session in conjunction with The National Blood Service.
It will be held at Fairfield Junior School, Watford Road, Radlett WD7 8LU and will be open between 9:30am - 4:30pm.
As usual with our sessions, there will be a crèche (for the kids!), plenty of car parking and light refreshments provided, so there is no excuse not to be there!
Anyone between the ages of 17 - 66 who is healthy can become a blood donor, and may continue to donate provided they remain healthy.
If you are undecided whether you are able to spare the time to give blood, please reflect on how without blood donors, virtually all surgery would cease.
Even if you are unable to give blood, please help us by bringing a friend, or a relative to give. We are also in need of helpers on the day, so if you can give up an hour of your time to help in the crèche, steward the car park, or make sandwiches please call us on 020 8953 5455
If you are likely to be pushed for time on the day, then you can pre book an appointment by calling the NBS on
s0845 7 711 711.
Save a life! GIVE BLOOD NOT EXCUSES!,

Joely Bear's Big Blood Bonanza - (17/3/08)
On Sunday 16th March, The Joely Bear Appeal held its 40th Blood Donor Session, in conjunction with The National Blood Service, at Borehamwood and Elstree Synagogue in Borehamwood.
This session was significant for many reasons. Not only was it the 40th such session jointly held by the two organisations, but the charity found both its 5000th donation being taken and its 1000th new donor being signed up. With each donation potentially benefiting up to three people these achievements are not to be understated.
Well-known children’s entertainer and TV presenter Dave Benson Phillips (Playhouse Disney, Get Your Own Back, Playdays, Fun Song Factory) was on hand to show his support and entertain the children that had come to watch their parents donate. Dave also presented the charity with a celebratory cake to mark the occasion which was later donated to the children of Treasure Island ward at Barnet General Hospital.
