Grants
The Appeal has raised over £300,000 and has made substantial grants. These grants have included:
- Research into the use of placental cord blood as a potential replacement for bone marrow transplants
- Funding of a specialist diagnostic tool at King's College Hospital for paediatric liver disease (one of only 6 world-wide)
Improved facilities at King's College Hospital - videos, televisions, chair-beds and a parents' room- Videos, chair-beds and decoration at Watford General Hospital
- The Joely Bear "Young Investigators" award for research into early diagnosis and treatment
- The Joely Bear Soft Play room at Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital
- Sponsorship of children's holidays while they are seriously ill
- The Joely Bear 'Treasure Island Outdoor Roof Garden' at Barnet General Hospital
How do we raise funds?
Each year the Appeal arranges a number of fund raising events and we are very grateful to everyone who participates and makes such generous donations. Our events have included annual Dinner Dances, annual sponsored bike rides, theatre evening’s barbecues, raffles and other similar fundraisers. We offer a range of promotional merchandise and even have our own button badges, only £1 each!
